Our Commitment to Support
- Support researchers at each stage in their study, and throughout their entire careers, from grant submittal to publication. Give expert guidance in study protocol design, biomarker selection, sample collection, logistics and analytical methods to ensure higher study quality.
- Operate the Salimetrics Core Laboratories to provide fast turnarounds for data that exceeds the capabilities of other core labs. Provide statistical support for complex biomarker data analysis.
- Offer logistics and indirect support to researchers at no cost, allowing for research dollars to be spent on better research.
Our Commitment to Quality
- Employ gold standard assays and validated protocols with superior sensitivity and specificity. Maintain strict quality control measures in our Core laboratories, exceeding the salivary and DBS data quality of other core labs, to ensure the highest levels of analytical precision and reproducibility.
- Apply industry standardization for biomarker research, quality control certification and analytical precision such that data can be reliably extrapolated longitudinally, across studies and across researchers.
- Routinely calibrate and maintain all equipment that affects precision, accuracy and reliability. Provide and monitor laboratory infrastructure to ensure care and storage of samples, protecting against risk of loss to the study. Develop robust protocols to maximize research value from less-than-optimal participant samples.
- Be FDA Registered, ISO 13485:2016 Certified, and 21 CFR 820 (cGMP) compliant.
- Operate a CLIA Certified lab and provide CE marked diagnostic products (as applicable) to support the translation of research into clinical practice.
Our Commitment to Value
- Consistently offer high-quality research with a value greater than our price.
- Provide extensively validated collection devices and methods that optimize sample quality and participant compliance to deliver greater study accuracy and statistical power.
- Offer best-in-class study organization, roster preparation, participant sample packs, and sample storage and transport guidance, all at a lower direct cost to researchers compared to performing these tasks at their university.
Our Commitment to Our Team
- Employ dedicated, caring people with different backgrounds, from PhDs and Biotech experts to MBAs and CPAs, from academics and industry, who individually and collectively make us a better partner for salivary bioscience.
- Provide a balanced environment where people grow in their work as well as in their personal lives, offering meaningful opportunities to develop skills, take on new challenges, and advance their careers.
Our Story
Salimetrics is more than just a good assay manufacturer. Often considered a scientific collaborator, Salimetrics stands by investigators in support of their specific aims. From industry leading pharmaceuticals, contract research organizations and key opinion leaders, to students and beginning researchers, Salimetrics collaborates with investigators in both the academic and diagnostic fields across many scientific disciplines. We help researchers be successful. We help them incorporate the best salivary bioscience methods, and that helps them be instrumental in revealing a new discovery, and becoming the next generation of key opinion leaders in their respective fields. We will always be committed to building and maintaining long-lasting relationships with investigators interested in pushing the scientific knowledge boundaries.
Salimetrics’ efforts started in the lab of Douglas A. Granger, PhD at Penn State University in the 1990s. Salivary cortisol was attracting considerable empirical attention, and the research findings were high impact. However, the assays used in that research were largely developed in-house by academics. Comparing data between studies was a challenge because the methods were not standardized, and these methods were not optimized for use with saliva. At that time, the immunodiagnostic industry was unwilling to develop and commercialize assays designed specifically for saliva. This gap led our group to take a leap of faith that would result in the much needed “step up” in assay quality, precision, accuracy, and standardization for salivary cortisol. The release of the Salimetrics Salivary Cortisol Assay Kit in 1998 marked a new beginning for salivary bioscience research, with the initial focus of salivary bioscience largely centered on assessing hormones in saliva such as cortisol.
These past twenty years have witnessed exponential growth in knowledge facilitated by salivary bioscience research. Recent advancements include salivary measures of environmental chemical exposure, infectious disease, metabolomics, oral microbiome, and inflammation. After many years of basic and descriptive study, salivary bioscience is ready to translate its high impact findings. Throughout the history of salivary bioscience research, Salimetrics has been a part of providing the knowledge and tools that facilitate this international effort. Today, Salimetrics is even more committed to be the best partner for the next generation of salivary bioscience.
